And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, (Acts 17:26-27 ESV)

City Groups are the primary means to connect with others at Free City Church and pursue life on mission together. We gather to share meals, study and apply the Scriptures, and pray for each other.

City Groups serve as places where friendships are developed and deepened while we follow Jesus together.

What does a city group do?

City Groups are places where we can confess that we are needy people, but also operate as people who are needed to bear the burdens of our brothers and sisters. They are the places we hope to grow in an ability to preach the gospel to ourselves and others. We want the Holy Spirit to make us dependent, spiritual people. People led by the Spirit with passion for Jesus. People radically changed by the gospel, who love what God loves.

City Groups are where we cultivate community and follow Jesus on mission together

Each week, we gather together to eat, study the Bible and pray. As we study the Bible, the scriptures expose our hearts and provoke deep questions about the gospel, life and God. We rely on the Holy Spirit to use community to bring faith and deeper understanding of life, mission and joy in Jesus Christ.

How do i choose a group?

We generally recommend three things to consider when choosing a group:

  1. Location: Which group is near you?

  2. Day: Which day and time works best?

  3. People: Do you know someone who attends one of the groups?

This is a helpful start, but we also encourage visiting a few groups. It might take multiple visits before you find the group that fits you best. Our hope is that you will find a group that you can develop rich, life-giving friendships for years to come.
