We believe God’s Word speaks to every aspect of life and is sufficient to address our deepest needs, fears, longings, and difficulties. Biblical Counseling focuses on helping discern the problems people face while revealing and implementing new, Biblical patterns of reflecting Christ. Our hope is centered on knowing Jesus Christ who reveals the depths of who we are, what our problems are, and the solutions to our problems.

Whether you struggle with sinful patterns, suffering, or direction - Biblical Counseling will seek to provide Biblical instruction and Christ-centered hope from the authority and sufficiency of God’s Word with the hope of a transformed life in Christ.

Why Biblical Counseling?

We believe in lasting soul care for the benefit of an individual’s relationship with God and others and the overall blessing to the local church and beyond. We seek to help people glorify God with their entire lives, including their thoughts, words and actions. We aim to help those individuals and couples struggling with: abuse, anger, anxiety, depression, doubt, faith, family, finances, marriage, parenting, purity/sex, and other challenges.

Who are Maddy & Matt Crawford?

Maddy and Matt got married in July of 2022 and started attending Free City about six months later. They became members at Free City in the fall of 2023 and are expecting their first child, a baby boy, in March of 2024. Maddy and Matt are both passionate about helping others in their walk with Jesus through every season of life.

Maddy has worked in collegiate ministry for over 8 years, received her undergraduate degree from KU in Business Marketing and her Master’s Degree in Biblical Counseling from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. She is a certified Biblical Counselor through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). Through her years in collegiate ministry and from personal experience, Maddy has extended experience working with women who struggle with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and sexual purity. Maddy is available for individual Biblical Counseling Sessions.

Matt has an undergraduate degree in Psychology from William Jewell College, a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of St. Mary, and will be completing a Master’s Degree in Sport Psychology from KU. He founded Crawford Performance Consulting in August of 2021 where he works with athletes of all ages and competition levels to improve their mental performance on and off the field. Matt will accompany Maddy for all marriage and couples Biblical Counseling Sessions.

They are eager to provide Biblical Counseling services to individuals and couples within the Free City Church community.

FAQs

How do I get started? Fill out a Biblical Counseling Interest Form (button above). Maddy will follow up with you directly to complete the registration process and provide a flexible time to schedule your first session.

How long will sessions last? Each individual/couple will meet weekly or biweekly for at least six sessions.

How much does it cost? Biblical Counseling is free for members of Free City Church. However, there is a suggested donation of $50/session for individuals and $75/session for couples.

Is this licensed counseling? The counseling is biblical in nature and is not part of a licensed and/or professional discipline governed and/or regulated by any governmental agency. The Counselor is not acting in the capacity of a licensed or certified psychotherapist, psychologist, psychiatrist, mental health professional, marriage and family therapist, or social worker.
